Ceramic Animal

Weekend Warrior, January 20 - 22

Grey clouds hang overhead; it’s only a matter of time before the skies open up. However, Johnny Brenda’s will be offering shelter from the storm this evening. Ceramic Animal enacts loose, affecting psych-pop - the type that gently seeps into your mind with the casual crash of surf-rock-inspired rhythmic sways, but is fully prepared to attack at opportune moments, demonstrating the force of the instrumental tides. Meanwhile, step into the heady blues-treading vortex of The Mysteries, who will be potentially unveiling material from their forthcoming release, New Age Psychedelic Experiment. With boogie-flavored infectious tones that swiftly transition toward tinges of psych rock, the trio of Satellite Hearts kick off the proceedings. - Michael Colavita

Weekend Warrior, October 28 - 30

Technically, Halloween falls on Monday. However, the autumnal celebration of dastardly deeds and debauchery will be in full flux this Saturday as Underground Arts opens its doors for the 7th Annual TJ Kong Halloween Costume Ball Rock N Roll Murdershow. Along with a haunting stir of booze-saturated country blues perpetuated by Kong & The Atomic Bomb, the candy-coated, Andy Moholt-led daydream down the rabbit-hole, better known as Laser Background, will provide their twist on The Zombies’ catalogue. The attitude-infused rumbling reverberation of Straw Hats and the serenading psych-pop grip of Grubby Little Hands will be joined by the slinky, streamlined, funk-fueled fire of MINKA and the rippling surf-psych wave of Ceramic Animal to seal this evening. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 8pm, $15, 21+ - Michael Colavita

MilkBoy 5th Anniversary w/Ceramic Animal at MilkBoy Aug.13

Whether it’s a gradual climb, turbulent, enriching, guitar boosters, or a backend thrust that tempers those confident gravitational vocals, Ceramic Animal catches ones ear with their psych-pop semblance. That casual air lures, and then invigorates, tapping into astral grooves that sharply tunnel at warp speed as the instruments push toward their limits. It’s loose with the capacity to quickly flip the switch and push the afterburners. Tonight, as the band participates in the final night of the 5-year celebration for Milkboy, they’ll be joined by soulful blues inferno of Foxtrot & the Get Down and the energetic contemporary southern rock of The Weeks. Milkboy, 1100 Chestnut St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Music Video: "Daydreams Via Memories" - Ceramic Animal

The Democratic National Convention has come and gone, along with its business casual dress code for Philly. Ceramic Animal had the DNC on their minds when making their latest music video for "Daydreams Via Memories". The gang transports us to a happier time in American politics with found footage of folks gettin' their Macarena on at the 1996 convention in Chicago, along with Slick Willy doing some blowing at the 1993 Arkansas Inaugural Ball. Ceramic Animal will be bringing these good vibes to MilkBoy this Saturday, Aug. 13, as part of the venue's 5th anniversary celebration.

New Music Video: "Maybe" - Ceramic Animal

As a show with The Binary Sea and Lou looms this Saturday at Underground Arts, Ceramic Animal has released a new music video for the track “Maybe”. Directed by Oliver Samuels, the band embraces nature, emerging from a hole and casually performing amongst a picnic, while suited up along the water. The tone is loose and playful, especially when nature calls.
