New Friendship LP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Currently on tour with Abi Reimold, alt-country transplants Friendship’s new album You’re Going To Have To Trust Me was recently released via Burst & Bloom Records. Howling with an unfiltered authenticity and a rustling echoey twang, while venturing onto different terrain, the band captures a folk-anchored familiarity, while pushing through the gates of the past. You can stream and purchase the LP below. (Photo by Abi Reimold)

Friendship Album Release Show at Everybody Hits Oct. 17

The quartet of Friendship celebrates the same-day release of You’re Going to Have to Trust Me via Burst & Bloom Records, tonight at Everybody Hits. The group produces a crackling fire of affecting folk/alt-country. With a twangy endearing instrumental base that slices through the outdoors, Friendship embraces the power of lyrical narratives, comfortly building a tunnel from one’s heart to the outside world. However, while these moments tend to simmer, they are prone to volatile flare ups were that even keel is traded in for sincere raw turbulence. Tourmate Abi Reimold brings her own brand of torrentially soothing folk. The calming, melodically rich, lyrically poetic, bedroom sounds of Kississippi, whose next release We Have No Future, We’re All Doomed will be available November 20 via Soft Speak Records, will also be on hand as well as the ailing-pop treatment Old Maybe. Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8pm, $5-$7, 21+ - Michael Colavita

Hello Shark Radiates at Everybody Hits June 12

There’s internal strength that radiates from Hello Shark’s ability to create songs that provide a truly personal point of view. That ability to expose vulnerability and spin it out of the dark corners of one’s mind into a better, brighter space in those odd yet beautiful lyrical images is a rare gift. Tonight, at Everybody Hits, Hello Shark will be joined in by Peter Gill’s alt-country-folk sound known as Friendship, coating engaging narratives in sparse instrumentation. Abi Reimold’s haunting folk that takes on elements of an imposing storm is also set to perform, potentially showcasing new material, while psych-pop trio Seismic Thrust completes the evening of local talent. Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8pm, $5, All Ages - Michael Colavita

Catch SAINTHOOD at The East Room Tonight, Listen to "L.I.V.I.N.G." Right Now!

The post-Joy of Painting effort of front man Garreth Spinn, SAINTHOOD tags itself as "pop salvation." Debut single "L.I.V.I.N.G." dropped just this Tuesday. Synth-driven and highly danceable, this tune has a little bit of Killers flavor and skirts the edge of camp (never a bad thing.) SAINTHOOD joins a packed lineup of other musical amalgamations and resurrections at The East Room tonight: supergroup Friendship (with members of Chalaxy, Creature Comfort, Subnovas, Girls and Money, and Mesmer Tea,) dream-pop Iowans Annalibera, Organ Stills (a revision of Shy Guy,) chilled-out California psych from Suntundra Moon, and last-minute opener Mr. Nasti (Children of Spy, Zombie Bazooka Patrol.) That is a metric ton of music for $5. This is a much better application of your cash than buying a gnarly footlong at the Subway next door. Tonight's show is 18+ and kicks off at 8pm. -Terra James-Jura

Friendship Releases Video for "Die In the Summertime"

Friendship is a Nashville supergroup comprised of members from The Subnovas, Girls and Money, Creature Comfort, Mesmer Tea and Indiana's Party Lines. We covered their debut spectacle at The East Room back in November, and we have to give mad props to frontman and head instigator Taylor Cole for not only throwing a wild show, but also being one of the most high-energy and hardest working musicians in the Nashville underground. He has a knack for fostering a community spirit in a scene; for example, the first single for Friendship (or, as it's phrased online, the "Friendship Super Magic Art Project") is a cover from a previous collaboration (Children of Spy). The accompanying video to this song is a montage of live and candid footage from several of the bands brought together under the Friendship umbrella. The group will be joining the chaos of the High Watt/Mercy Lounge's New Year's Eve time-traveling costume blowout 15 other bands. More details on the night can be found here. -Terra James-Jura
