The Menzingers Opening for Hot Water Music at the E Factory Jan. 26

Scranton transplants turned Philly staples The Menzingers will provide the undercard for post-hardcore veterans Hot Water Music tonight at the Electric Factory. The local quartet released an unsung hero of records, On the Impossible Past, early last year on Epitaph Records. Formulating pop-punk anthems that exhibit snarly vocal grit with guitar and percussion providing clean controlled continuity while always prepared to launch a sonic assault when the emotional fire is ready to rage. Electric Factory, 421 N. 7th St., 8:30pm, $27, All Ages - Michael Colavita

New Track: "Casey" (Acoustic) - The Menzingers

Below is a new acoustic version of The Menzinger's "Casey" that Epitaph Records just posted. The original appears on their most recent LP On The Impossible Past. The four-piece are opening a sold out show this evening with The Gaslight Anthem at the Electric Factory.

The Menzingers Sold Out Show at The Barbary June 29

Sonic brethren to acts like The Gaslight Anthem and The Lawrence Arms, The Menzingers play the stuff of crowdsurfers, push-pitters and mic-grabbers, the kind of sing-along anthems that ignite a beer-soaked venue. Tonight, that room will be The Barbary, where the group headlines a bill featuring the soulful, raspy-voiced emotive rock of Restorations and the sprawling hardcore noise of Sore Saints. This is a dynamite line-up; The Menzingers continue to enjoy success from their most recent album, On the Impossible Past, Restorations met critical success with their self-titled, and Sore Saints just got a shoutout in AP magazine off the strength of their demo. It’s no surprise the show’s sold out. Good news for those wanting a buzzing crowd, bad news for those just hearing about it now, but hey: when’s the last time you snuck into a punk gig, anyway? The Barbary, 951 Frankford Ave, 6:30 PM, $12, All Ages - Adam Downer

The Menzingers Were Robbed Last Night in Manchester

Oh man - this is happening way too often to bands these days. The Menzingers were robbed while on tour in Manchester, England. Here’s part of what Greg Barnett posted, and you can read the rest of his message at their Tumblr:

“The driver side window was smashed out and 3 personal bags were stolen. Unfortunately my bag was stolen with all of our tour money inside it. To top it off, we brought around $2000 in US cash with us in case of an emergency. So let’s see €5000 Euros, an iPad, 3 iPods, 3 passports, 2 pairs of raybans (I know, I know they’re super expensive but they make you look pretty cool), my personal tour journals from the last year and a half which included all of my “On the Impossible Past” lyrics and all of my god damn memories, a digital camera, prescriptions, blah blah blah. This sucks. It really fucking sucks…”

This is obviously a shitty situation. If you’d like to help the guys out, you can make a donation HERE or at their PayPal account (MenzingersSkrilla@gmail.com). We’re sure that they’d greatly appreciate it.
