PREMIERE: Sheers - "Depth"

Art pop and classical stylings converge with elemental hip-hop and r&b through the new duo Sheers, and their distinctive debut single "Depth."

Lily Breshears heads up the duo, bringing her seasoned experience from working with artists such as Big Haunt and Haley Heynderickx along with classical training as a harpist and pianist to the table. Intertwined with her mastered piano playing are melodic refrains, emotionally pertinent lyrics and jazzy beats from drummer and collaborator Grant Pierce.

Produced by both Sheers and Scott Schaus and mastering done by David Polluck, "Depth" is only the starting point for what is sure to be an established effort for Breshears.

Sheers will be playing Mississippi Studios with Robin Bacior on the 17th, with a co-album release show also at Mississippi with Lynnae Gryffin on September 19th.

Check out the official premiere of "Depth" below.

Robin Bacior Plays The Piano Fort 3.8

Portland based singer songwriter Robin Bacior has been touring for most of February promoting her new album, I Just Left You, Still in Love, and on March 8th The Piano Fort will be welcoming her back to the Bridge City with open arms. Be it playing the piano, strumming a guitar or singing her poetic lyrics, it is clear Bacior knows what she is doing. She has a way with light feminine vocals and deeply rooted instrumentation that creates an ever-changing landscape of keys, strings and harmonies. That contrast in vocal and instrumental texture echoes the theme of her latest album. The 5 track release, recorded in a single day, explores ideas of letting go and moving on in the midst of feeling tangled and frozen. As the album shifts from quick footed songs like “Box-A-Bed” to weighty and surprising “Shapes and Seasons” her emotional exploration pulls the listener in and does not let go until Prelude. Bacior will be sharing the night with Portland wonder Ryan Francesconi and the ever dreamy Sparrow Song Research. These three different and talented acts will take turns on a stage made entirely of pianos, and we can all agree that is a mighty fine way to spend a Friday night. - Joy Pearson

Robin Bacior releases single + announces full length for November

We featured Brooklyn based Robin Bacior's pretty video/song combo in this blog back in February, and since then the 24 year old singer songwriter has obviously been busy recording new material and making plans. Robin has just released as a free download the single "Ohio" (streaming here) from the upcoming album "Rest Our Wings" - to be released in November - and is kicking off a west coast tour tonight at Hotel Cafe` in LA. Definitely a talented young artist to keep an ear on.

NYC Artists on the rise: Robin Bacior

Robin Bacior is an emerging Brooklyn based singer songwriter we stumbled upon about one minute ago. We liked the simplicity, sincerity and tastefulness of this song and video. She is playing lovely Pete's Candy Store on February 6, an appropriately intimate venue for this kind of music.
