Teen Girl Scientist Monthly

Teen Girl Scientist Monthly releases of LP "Hyper Trophy" at Cameo Gallery on 07.18

As you may gether from their moniker, Brooklyn's Teen Girl Scientist Monthly are not too interested in coming across as a serious bunch: the band exists for the dual purpose of making rock'n'roll music suitable for parties, and partying to it while playing it live. In spite of this, the guys are incredibly hard working: their  upcoming album "Hyper Trophy" will be - between LPs, EPs and 7" - their TENTH release since 2010. New single 'Dark Rip' (video streaming below) fits the profile of the perfect party tune: marrying the raw and upbeat urge of punk with the contagious optimism of pop, the track is bound to get listeners moving, wherever it reaches them. Teen Girl Scientist Monthly will be celebrating the release of  "Hyper Trophy" with a party at Cameo Gallery on July 18th - fun will be had by all.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best punk/garage songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!

Teen Girl Scientist Monthly plays Rockwood on 01.03

NYC's Teen Girl Scientist Monthly coined a new genre to describe their upbeat, energetic music: "pop stomp" (why not "stomp pop"? It sounds better...) Here at The Deli we are fans of the band’s fast paced pick-me-up single “Summer Skin”, which feels like a well needed shot of unpretentious rock'n'roll, something kind of rare in our tense and often angry rock scene. The Brooklyn band has a super fun live show that has the potential to get even the laziest of humans out of their seats for some frantic dancing. That's why they are asked to play Rockwood Music Hall on a Saturday - in this case January 3, 2015. - Robert Frezza

Teen Girl Scientist Monthly releases 'We Run With Gangs' album at Mercury on 01.27

When walking through New York City, the one thing you notice is the variety of people, places and things. As you walk down the city streets you'll pass many different stores, restaurants, parks, personalities, and landmarks with various purposes, influences and flavors. Teen Girl Scientist Monthly is a 6-piece group from Brooklyn that embodies this essence. When popping on their new album 'We Run With Gangs' each track jumps through various vibes, instrumentation, and styles all while keeping the same rock presence. They even shift vocalist from female to male leads on most tracks, which highlights this group's multifaceted personality.

While they've been described as "Ra Ra Riot and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah making out in the bathroom" we are closely reminded of the band Enon, who also had very distinct stylistic changes throughout their records. Join the party at their release show on January 27th at Mercury Lounge. - Joe Fish

Joining the DC kin are two bands from NY: Jackpot Tiger and Teen Girl Scientist Monthly. The four groups collaborated in a cute promo for the show, check it out below.

It all goes down at the Black Cat on 8/3, $12, Doors @ 9PM.
