Providence's Daniel Patrick Talbot plays at AS220 on 3/4

One may not quite be able to discern what Providence’s Daniel Patrick Talbot is saying in his fuzzy guitar tracks but it doesn’t really matter; these messily pretty songs intrigue with their very refusal to be obvious. On “Hollywood” (streaming below), which sounds like a jagged anthem for the deranged, for instance, Talbot mentions that his “body is a lamp/like the factories,” conjuring disturbing yet undeniably compelling imagery. “Accumaliting 2,” which sounds like a mix of Ratatat and Future Punx, similarly obliterates conventional sense yet compels with its jumpy darkness. Daniel Patrick Talbot plays at AS220 in Providence, Rhode Island on 3/4. – Zach Weg

PREMIERE: Human Ottoman - "YDKWH"

Opposing the conventional instrumental makeup of a band, Human Ottoman devise lively musicanship with Susan Lucia on drums, Grayson Fiske on vibraphone and Matthew Cartmill on cello. The three met each other in college and their shared interest in mingled measures resulted in a self released album, 2014's Independent Music Award winning Power Baby, and the single they're bringing to you today. "YDKWH" (standing for "you don't know what's happening") is a crazed, frenetic expression of each member's individual talent. With a video just as vibrantly chaotic as the song itself, Human Ottoman kill it. You can see for yourself with the debut of their new video below, and check out the album it comes off of, Farang.

vōx plays the Bootleg on 2.1

Early last year, we were enchanted with singer-songwriter vōx and her noteworthy single "Money". As we await for more new music this year, the art pop project of Sarah Winters is making the sporadic appearance to remind us of her mesmeric live performances. Winters will be sharing a bill at the Bootleg this next Monday, February 1st alongside AKW and Lena Fayre.

Listen to "Get Down", which she just released this past month via her official soundcloud page.

Sextile set to join Soft Moon for 2016 West Coast Tour

In a twist of events, Los Angeles' occult punks Sextile were recently hand-picked to tour parts of the West Coast with self-actualized Oakland-turned-Venetian EBM project The Soft Moon, following the dropout of headliner Killing Joke due to health reasons. Taking financial difficulties into account, Sextile launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for touring expenses —  the band has reached almost $1000, nearly 120% of their goal, with 13 more days to go. The support does not come unwarranted, either — since the release of their debut album A Thousand Hands, Sextile have made a name for themselves performing across Los Angeles with darker dance partners like The Electric West, L.A. Drones, and Terminal A. With expanding coverage from shore to shore, their purgatory sounds evoke perfectly the spiritual unrest and emotional agitation that scrapes the back of our thoughts.

In a recent interview with music blog Heathen Harvest, the band has announced that it will also perform at SXSW this year, and are currently writing new material for upcoming releases. Stream Sextile's debut album A Thousand Hands on Bandcamp and catch them at The Casbah in San Diego tonight. - Ryan Mo
