Total Unicorn's Electronic Alien Freakout "Whole Lotta Louvre"

Spacefolk/musicians Total Unicorn dropped a quite nice future freakout track a couple weeks ago as the single for their just-released album Relaxation Tape, and we’ve got it in all its lovely pangalactic glory for you here today. “Whole Lotta Louvre” sounds like something straight out of a hip irreverent scifi universe (like if Fifth Element had a unhinged experimental edge to it), starting out with a grippingly odd alien choral performance that gives way to an equally extraterrestrial hard rap. None of it sounds like English, or really like anything familiar at all, but all of it is good weird spacefuture shit that’ll get your interstellar daydreams firing off instantly when you hear it. Get listening below to a delicious piece of electronic weirdness, and check back here for a post on the full album from one of the most unique groups in town sometime soon.

Band to Watch: almondsandpearls

We do our best to stay on the cutting edge and keep our ears to the ground for new Bay Area music groups and artists. A pat on the back feels well deserved as we are pleased to share new music from a great new psych R&B band called almondsandpearls. Their music is eclectic and unique, the members are experienced and funloving and exactly what an ever changing city like San Francisco needs as it evolves into a new era of art and music.

almondsandpearls is a band that has evolved over the years from multiple musicians living, hanging out, and rocking together in one of San Francisco’s last standing artist warehouse spaces. The line up includes visual artist and vocalist, Breck Omar Brunson (Former frontman of The Apes, Screens), guitarist, Kyle DeMartini (Down Dirty Shake, Fast Eddy), and multi-instrumentalist and sound designer Sia Mozaffari (Should We Run). Our sound is psychedelic R&B with a tinge of jazz, reflecting the diverse background from which each member comes from.

Take a listen to their new singles, Soul Free and Peppermint and please support their current indiegogo campaign! Support local independent music!

Enjoy this free compilation. It is a celebration of local music and such a great contribution during a time where record labels are all about profit.

DENIM SKELETONS Release "Into The Fright"/Mississauga Release Show

DENIM SKELETONS like it eerie, grimey and loud. The spacey four piece bring a different kind of energy to their music, with a creepy garage-rock vibe underneath a squeeky-clean sheen of beautiful songwriting and production. Leading up to the release of their first full-length album, “Into The Fright”, they’ve teased us with one last single to wrap our heads around. “Mall Doll” alternates between a slow trudge, sparce and spine-tingling, and a beautiful punk-waltz. It hits hard, blasting a wall of noise that is both pretty, and pretty frightening. Layers upon layers of meticulously etched out instruments, noises and vocals paint a picture worth screaming about. They’re hosting a big release show with a ton of other local talent, be at Clarke Memorial Hall in Mississauga, Nov 27th.
